Smaller compact fluorescents are less. The downfalls to fluorescent lamps are 1)they are sensative to temperatuers. Too hot or too cold they don't operate at peak efficiency. 2) fluorescent's white light make some people feel the room is too sterile. You can help this problem out by using warmer color lamps like 27K or 30K. Yellowing will also depend on the type of fluorescent lamp you are using. It could be that the lamp is being over-driven.
