Mike said: oh,no,you are wrong.I have found as below for this question(Do REDNECKS actually eat POSSUM?),it will help you,my kids.

I have never know anyone to eat a opposum.

I live in a very small town. Mountains and trees for as far as you can see. Lord, we haven't even had anything besides dial-up internet for very long, and in some places you still can't get anything but. Our area is constantly depicted as an area of poverty, and some of it is, but we don't use outhouses anymore, even though they aren't hard to find in some people's yards. Most of us have well water, and we talk VERY redneck. Here, we are as redneck as they come, and while most people who live here aren't running out to try thai food or anything like that, and it's basically hamburgers, and chicken and dumplins, I have yet to see anyone actually eat roadkill.

EDIT: I take that back. My husband just came home and he says his grandfather used to eat it and groundhog all the time. So nevermind! Haha.
does it matter if they do rich people eat snail and fish eggs and if you ask me i think i definetly eant some possum then a snail or fish eggs lol it would be so much cheaper to lol
Yes, possum is a viable meat for eating, and is definately eaten in certain regions.

And I believe the slur you were looking for was hillbillies, and not rednecks.
Don't knock it till you've tried it.
Bar-B-Q Possum is pretty good, though a little greasy!
Yes some do...and you can find how to cook them here.
The rednecks I know will eat anything that doesn't eat them first.
they do ask stupid questions.......
Rednecks, like myself, DO eat possum if they choose. Not road kill though, that's just nasty! I personally have never eaten it, but I have witnessed other eating possum. But I have eaten gator, snake, squirrel, and deer. I wanted to try some bear once, but I've heard too many bad things about it.
Yes they do I have relatives from monunt plesant Texas and like you said they eat anything that doesnt eat them first one time an aunt of mine ran over a Possum and she took it home to and cooked it and she got Gangreen in her liver and she had to have a blood transfusion and a liver and kidney transplant.True story!!
