Fruit Question, What makes a fruit a fruit not a vegetable?

Since a tomato is considered a fruit because its seeds, why is a banana a fruit? Is their another "fruit" that doesn't have seeds? Is their any other characteristics that makes a fruit a fruit?
Answers: Botanically, most of the things you think are vegetables are actually fruit. Fruit includes not only tomatoes but peppers, squash, olives, cucumbers, etc.. anything that isn't like roots, leaves, stems, bulbs, etc..

Culinarily what we consider fruit has to do with culture and what has been passed on--what we consider dessert food and what we don't.
