No, but I hope you can stand the taste of that stuff.
To me it%26#039;s aweful.
I%26#039;d rather die of thirst then use any artificial sweetener.
( but that%26#039;s just me, I think they have a chemical aftertaste).

The answer is however, no you will not gain any weight.

Splenda is not sugar.

The slogan, %26quot;Made from sugar...%26quot; is very misleading. Splenda might be made from sugar, but it is far from sugar. The resulting chemical is simply chlorinated sugar; a chlorocarbon.

carbon monoxide - made from oxygen so its like a breath of fresh air. Report Abuse

Splenda is an artificial chemical sweetener manufactured by adding three chlorine atoms to a sugar molecule. Because there have been no long-term human studies on Splenda to determine the potential health effects on people, no one can say with certainty that the substance is safe to eat.

Research where rats were given yogurt sweetened with either sugar or saccharin found that the rats given saccharin gained more weight, because they ate more afterwards, presumably due to compensatory effects. It is hypothesized that this effect would apply to all non-nutritive sweeteners, and would also be seen in humans.

In short...using Splenda may cause you to gain weight because non-nutritive sweeteners tend to make you eat more.
If you do not want to gain excess weight...eat a well balanced diet.
If your body is getting all that it needs from what you eat... it will not cause you to over eat.

You will gain weight if you take in more calories (eat) than you expend (through exercise). Period. Splenda has no calories. Lemonade usually has a few calories.
answer from chineseop.com cooking QA
No, because Splenda isn%26#039;t sugar

Splenda is a sugar that has been modified. Our bodies are complex systems with enzymes built in to digest sugar. Splenda seems to have minimal effect on blood sugar and insulin levels. However, I believe, When we consume over 1c. per day of Splenda our bodies register the sweet taste with sugar and send out insulin - even before it goes to the stomach. The insulin in our bodies will circulate until it attaches to sugar. If the sugar doesn%26#039;t come from digestion since we are not built right in with enzymes to break it down into a digestible form then the insulin will attach to our sugar storage in our liver. The liver stores sugar to be used only in the case of emergencies. A little splenda will not hurt, a lot can deplete your sugar stores and cause extreme fatigue and a hypoglycemic effect which is quite serious. Our brain will be depleted of it%26#039;s sugars and it can have a very bad effect especially if this is a regular thing like a lemonade diet. After a couple weeks, our body will catch on, and if your intake of splenda is 1cup per day or somewhere in that large amount range then you WILL develop enzymes which will begin to attach and break down the Splenda in your gut into a digestible sugar that Will lead to weight gain. I recall reading this several places about 2 years ago in my nursing mag%26#039;s.

I did a search and came up with some more info to follow:
http://www.carbs-information.com/sugars/...
http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/centur...
http://www.splendaexposed.com/articles/2...

It%26#039;s really something to think about, in fact one person said that Splenda halted her weight loss! Since you are tricking your body, I just think your body will know.

The other thing, Splenda in large quantities may cause urinary pain similar to a bladder infection, it may also cause bladder spasms. I know this since it happens to me. I switched to stevia powder and I use it sparingly. I also grew a stevia plant, it looks like mint and tastes like sugar, the leaves are really nice and sweet and all I needed to do was add one to a cup of tea and it would all just taste perfectly sweet. Good luck!
