whats the diff between jam and jelly?
answer from chineseop.com cooking QA
actually preserves has more chunks of fruit in it. jam has less and jelly has none, the texture is different and jelly has more sugar than the both of them. preserves has the least of the three and it is less processed and is thus, more natural.
so here is the break down
Jelly - is made from fruit juice - no fruit pieces
Jam - is made with small pieces of fruit and sometimes fruit pulp.
Preserves - is made with large or whole pieces of fruit.

i hope this helps :)

In jelly, the fruit comes in the form of fruit juice.
In jam, the fruit comes in the form of fruit pulp or crushed fruit (and is less stiff than jelly as a result).
In preserves, the fruit comes in the form of chunks in a syrup or a jam.

Jelly is made from fruit juice and jam is made from boiled fruit. As a result, jam has pieces of fruits and jelly does not.
