I know everyone is familiar about root beer not being beer exactly. If this is the case, then why do we still call it that, root beer?

What she said. literally, I wanted to say that :]
It%26#039;s made of plant roots (obviously) and it%26#039;s brewed like beer but it doesn%26#039;t contain alcohol in the end. It%26#039;s nasty to be honest, I hate it, but if you like it knock yourself out. No age limit.
answer from chineseop.com cooking QA
Well it does come with or without alcohol, it originally started with, but comes obviously without, and the drink contains several various roots (sarsaparilla, sassafras, ginger).
answer from chineseop.com cooking QA
Root beer is also called Sasparilla...and it was originally derived from the Sasafrass root.
