Mike said: oh,no,you are wrong.I have found as below for this question(Why is an orange an orange and an apple not a red?),it will help you,my kids.

the color name came from the fruit name which is very old. the apple and color red were already named individually.

but by your way of thinking, why is a fly a fly, and a horse isn%26#039;t a walk?

Well, not all apples are red are they? So to call an apple a red would be well, silly. As far as orange goes, the word itself makes your mouth water just thinking of an Orange and saying the word. Or thing about the flavor of an orange star burst. All in all, orange is a juicy word, just like the fruit. This is only my opinion..hehe

Hello Hi!
Well, the red, some say was the forbidden fruit. So, it had to have a special name. A descriptive name just would%26#039;nt do! LOL

Because an apple can be green too. Or yellow-ish, in fact!

An orange is always an orange, it doesn%26#039;t change it%26#039;s colour ;D

answer from chineseop.com cooking QA
