Answers:
This is how I brew tea, Southern style.

8 regular size tea bags or 4 family size and
4 cups of water heated in the microwave for 5 minutes. Be careful that your tea doesn't boil over in the microwave or you'll have a mess. Steep after boiling for at least another 30 min. for a good tea taste

While that's workin make a simple syrup of 2 cups sugar and 2 cups water. Put in sauce pan on med. stiring occasionally until sugar is totally disolved.

Strain the tea bags and pour the tea into a 1 gal. pitcher and add the simple syrup, finish filling up the pitcher with water and stir. The sugar is already disolved in the simple syrup. You can also add the sugar when the tea is hot but sometimes you're left with really sweet tea at the bottom of the pitcher.

Some people only add 1 1/2 cups of sugar, it's all about your preference.

Pour over ice and enjoy!!

Other Answers:
ice + tea

You need to brew the tea, and while it is hot add sugar or artificial sweetener, that way the sugar melts. I"m assuming you want sweet tea. If you want, i can email you a recipe w/more detailed instructions, it's very simple. (m)

instant ice tea and southern comfort is good 1 gallon of cold water
3 family size tea bags
3 cups of sugar (or less)

Bring the water just barely to a boil;
add the tea bags, steep for 2-5 mins depending how dark you like it;
Add the sugar while the tea is still hot.
Serve over ice. Add fresh squeezed lemon juice if you like.

This tea is extremely sweet, but that's how my husband likes it. I prefer 2 cups of sugar to a gallon of tea.
