I grew up eating what my mom called "Cowboy Stew". It was made with a tomato base, ground beef, onion, celery,carrots, potatoes, corn, peas, green beans. If you know of a recipe called "Cowboy Stew", I wish you would share it with me. thanks!!
Here are some recipes for it:
1/4 stick margarine or butter
1 onion, chopped
1 lb. lean ground beef
1 (15 1/4-oz.) can whole-kernel corn, drained
1 qt. tomato juice
2 C. cubed potatoes, cooked and drained
1 (15-oz.) can chili with beans
In a skillet, sauté onion in margarine or butter until tender.
Add the ground beef and cook until meat is cooked well and no longer pink.
Add the corn, tomato juice, cooked potatoes and chili. Simmer for 15 minutes and serve with a good green salad.
1 can chili beans
1 can pork & beans
1 can cream style corn
2 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
1 lb. ground beef
1 onion, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
Brown ground beef, onion, and pepper together. Drain well. Put all ingredients into crock pot; cover and cook on low 7 to 12 hours.
A Texas Favorite
1 pound ground Beef Top Round
1 each onion, chopped
1/4 cup celery, chopped
4 each green onions, chopped
1/4 cup chili peppers, chopped, (optional)
1 tablespoon chili powder
2 tablespoons sugar
1 10 oz. can diced Rotel? Tomatoes
1 12 oz. can corn
6 each new potatoes, cut in bite size pieces
2 15 oz. cans Ranch Style Beans
2 cups water
Brown ground beef, add onion, celery, green onion, chili peppers and sauté' until tender. Add all other ingredients. Increase heat to boiling point stirring frequently. Reduce heat cover and simmer for 30 minutes. Salt and pepper to taste. I like to add Creole or Texas steak seasoning. Serve over cooked rice with hot rolls or garlic bread.

After browning the meat remove the meat from the pot and place in a fine meshed colander or strainer and rinse thoroughly with hot water then return to the pot. You could also substitute the beef with a low fat ground turkey.
A crockpot bean stew recipe with ground beef and canned beans.
1 pound ground beef
3/4 cup chopped onion
1 green bell pepper, chopped
1 can (15 ounces) chili beans
1 can (15 ounces) pork & beans
1 can (approx. 15 ounces) cream-style corn
2 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
In a skillet, brown ground beef, onion, and bell pepper together. Drain well. Combine all ingredients in slow cooker; cover and cook on LOW for 6 to 8 hours.
1-1/4 lbs beef stew meat
4 unpeeled potatoes, cut into 1 inch cubes
1/2 cup chopped onions
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 (28.00 ounces) can baked beans (in bbq sauce)
Mix stew meat, potatoes, onions, salt and pepper in crockpot. Spread beans over the meat mix. Cover and cook on low heat 8-10 hours until the beef is tender. 6 servings
