Kitty said: Yes.Do you think fish is meat?-I try seach this on internet but no results found.Maybe this is a stupid question.
Mike said: oh,no,you are wrong.I have found as below for this question(Do you think fish is meat?),it will help you,my kids.

because i%26#039;m vegetarian, and i don%26#039;t eat meat but i do eat fish because i seem to think fish is just fish.

I don%26#039;t eat pig, cow, chicken, goat, lamb, etc.
I also don%26#039;t eat fish.

Fish are living beings and are therefore %26quot;meat%26quot; in my book at least.

Edit: The link you added is why I don%26#039;t refer to things as meat, poultry, beef, pork, etc. I refer to it by the name of the animal. Poultry comes from birds, fish comes from fish, and %26quot;beef%26quot; comes from cows. I don%26#039;t want to think of something merely in terms of food--like many meat eaters do--I think it%26#039;s because they have a guilty conscience. They don%26#039;t want to think of venison as a deer. They don%26#039;t want to think of beef as a cow. It helps them to think of it only as the final %26quot;product%26quot; so they can justify eating a rotting corpse.

Meat is the flesh of a dead animal. Fish are animals.

You are not a vegetarian.

The %26quot;best answer%26quot; to the question you posted is a crappy answer. Vegetarians do not eat animals and never have. The people who coined the word vegetarian are the ones who get to define it. Nobody else gets to change that because they feel like it. Here is the definition of the word, directly from the source: http://www.vegsoc.org/info/definitions.h...

Some people will say yes. Others will say no. Here%26#039;s a biblical ruling that may help you find your answer. Whether or not people will take the thousands of years of observance at face value is obviously up for discussion.

In the Jewish laws of Kosher, milk and meat eaten together is prohibited. The ruling states that thou shall not eat a goat in its mother%26#039;s milk (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kashrut ). By this, Jewish law says that you cannot have milk and meat together (cheeseburgers, etc).

On the other hand, though, fish is perfectly acceptable. It%26#039;s not a mammal (= meat). Granted, fish is a living being, but so are plants.

It is perfectly acceptable in Jewish religion to eat fish and cheese together. But it is not permissible to do so with meat.

That said, most people who eat fish consider themselves vegetarians. They%26#039;re not, however, vegans (but I think you knew that!).

And fish isn%26#039;t considered an animal: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animal
Fish is just that: fish. Animals are mammals.

Edit: I think your additional details (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;... ) answer the question!

Well, that %26quot;best answers%26quot; just goes to show how worthless this forum can be.

when judging if a %26quot;best answer%26quot; has any validity you need to be careful. The answerer, dispite being active in this forum for over 2 years, has never answered another vegetarian question

Does that tell you anything about thier knowledge or experience on the topic ?

You should read the links to the main vegetarian organisations as pointed to in my %26quot;profile%26quot;.

If you want to pretend fish is not meat, thats entirely up to you and there is nothing any of the rest of us can do about it.

But, to be honest, it doesn%26#039;t matter how often you say it, it will still not be true.

Vegetarians do not eat fish, it really is that simple

The word %26quot;Vegetarian%26quot; was invented in 1847 to pertain to people who don%26#039;t eat animals.

Fish are animals and I don%26#039;t eat animals. That is my belief and I%26#039;m sticking to it.

I don%26#039;t care if some people make a rationalization about fish and I don%26#039;t care if somebody says %26quot;fish isn%26#039;t meat%26quot; and got best answer.

If you call yourself %26quot;vegetarian%26quot; and eat fish it does not mean I have to accept you as a vegetarian. Nor does it mean I have to eat fish.

Fish is a creature of muscle and cartilage
It doesn%26#039;t grow from the ground! Fish is a Meat! Anyone that thinks fish not to be meat is stupid! Just compare it to other meats. And compare it to fruits and vegetables. If fish wasn%26#039;t meat why doesn%26#039;t it come from the ground? Vegetables and fruit grow from seeds planted in the ground!
You can%26#039;t plant a fish in the ground and expect it to grow!

You are not vegetarian if you eat fish. Vegetarians do not eat animals. Flesh of an animal is meat. This is according to the Vegetarian Society that was founded in the 1800%26#039;s. The meaning has not changed.
