The Level of difficulty, depends on your diet. If you are used to eating large quantities of meat and fish, then it will be very difficult, although if you do not eat alot, then it wouldn%26#039;t be as hard. It is easy to avoid it once you are at home and dont purchase it from the grocery; but if you are at a restaurant or with friends, then it is more challenging.

But if you are going to become a vegetarian, then you must do your research on the diet requirements so that you maintain your strength. Since becomming vegetarian, my skin has improved and I feel stronger and healthier.

The first thing you should do, is figure which type of vegetarian you want to be. There are several types of VEGETARIANS:

Lacto-ovo- vegetarian

When most people think of vegetarians, they think of lacto-ovo-vegetarians. People who do not eat beef, pork, poultry, fish, shellfish or animal flesh of any kind, but do eat eggs and dairy products are lacto-ovo vegetarians (lacto comes from the Latin for milk, and ovo for egg).

Lacto-vegetarian is used to describe a vegetarian who does not eat eggs, but does eat dairy products.

Ovo-vegetarian refers to people who do not eat meat or dairy products but do eat eggs.

Vegan

Vegans do not eat meat of any kind and also do not eat eggs, dairy products, or processed foods containing these or other animal-derived ingredients such as gelatin. Many vegans also refrain from eating foods that are made using animal products that may not contain animal products in the finished process, such as sugar and some wines.

The vegetarian can be a healthy option, as it reduces fat intake and lowers cholestrol. However, you have to ensure that you eat a variety of fruits and vegetables, to get all the vitamins and minerals from your foods. To do this, you have to exercise regularly, and use the vegetarian diet pyramid:

You should know, that VEGETARIANS DO NOT EAT FISH NOR FISH PRODUCTS NOR ANIMAL FATS ! Although
Pescatarian (also spelled pescetarian)

The word pescatarian is occasionally used to describe those who abstain from eating all meat and animal flesh with the exception of fish. Although the word is not commonly used, more and more people are adopting this kind of diet, usually for health reasons or as a stepping stone to a fully vegetarian diet.

Some people start off slowly by elimanting each meat group
(red meat, poultry, pork, et cetera)
Others, like me, quit cold turkey.
It may be hard the first week, especially if you told people that you%26#039;re a vegetarian. You%26#039;ll have to tell people WHY you%26#039;re the way you are. And, of course, you%26#039;re going to get snarky remarks. It%26#039;s going to happen. But, believe me, it gets really easy. I%26#039;m the only one in my family that%26#039;s a vegetarian, and I%26#039;ve had to go throught the hell that is Thankgiving...not very many vegetarian friendly foods there.

But, health wise, it%26#039;s going to be one of the best decisions you%26#039;ll every make. You%26#039;ll lose weight, feel better, and you can get all your protiens and vitamins from fruits and vegetables. It%26#039;s not hard. And after a couple weeks, even the smell of meat will repulse you. If you have a hard time transitioning, then there are a lot of %26#039;faux%26#039; meats out there, that taste pretty much like the real thing, without the inhuman slaughtering of animals. So, I wish you luck on your quest to becoming a fellow veg-head.

the first thing I did was watch the video at meat.org and that was the beginning of a new way of life for me. I grew up with a family who loves to eat and everything revolvs around food and we are all big people. Since becoming vegetarian and I also gave up soda I lost 50 pounds (since March).
I like the morning star and Boca products and I just made the decision to not eat any meat. Period. It%26#039;s really not that hard when you have those images of cruelty etched in your brain.

i had no trouble converting. i do suggest that you consider a diverse vegetarian diet to stay healthy, that is... don%26#039;t just live off Boca burgers and nothing else; also consult with a doctor about vitamins/supplements you should be taking (actually everyone should do that). my mil got us %26quot;vegetarian times%26quot; magazine, it%26#039;s mostly just ads for overpriced organic stuff and supplements, but there are enough good recipes to be worth it (at least when someone else is paying for the subscription!)
